If you are moving temporarily to a new city, you have a big job ahead of you. Make it an easier one by following these suggestions.

Take Care Of Details Ahead Of Time - These are the pesky little things that can catch up with you if you don't address them ahead of time.

  • Don't forget to change your address at the post office.
  • Stop magazine subscriptions, or supply your new address. Don't forget to include the date of when you want the change to take place.
  • Inform your library, any clubs or organizations and other individuals of your plans.
  • Order attractive cards to send to friends and family that show your new address.
  • Collect medical records and school records that need to accompany you. Consider asking your doctor for referrals in your new location.

Take Care Of Major Things - Are you selling your home or are you renting during your absence? Either way, you'll need to contact professional movers like Midway Moving & Storage.

  • Choose a moving company that has been in business for a long time.
  • When you decide on the company you will be using, be sure to supply exact dates for pick up and delivery.
  • Get rid of junk before the packers come, or it will also be packed!
  • Don't forget to leave out your children's favorite toy or blankie, medicine, and other things you will need before your things are unpacked.
  • If you're moving outside of the country, connect with movers that specialize in foreign moves. They'll handle all the legal matters for you that have to do with customs.
  • They will even transport your vehicles, following the laws of both the United States and your new host country.
  • Decide on what you want to take with you. The moving company will send people who have been beautifully trained to pack your things so that they won't be damaged.
  • When you have decided what will be left behind, the same company will store your possessions. You can be sure that they will be safe, as they'll be kept in thermostatically controlled units that are monitored by cameras and by security personnel.
  • You will be able to track the current location of your belongings.
  • Don't worry about your things! Even fragile figurines will receive special attention.
  • When you arrive in your new home, the movers will be ready to help you unpack.
  • When your temporary move is over, the movers will be ready to bring you home again.

Congratulations on planning early for your temporary move.
